Happy National Give Something Away Day!
Organizing homes and workspaces can be challenging for persons with ADHD, and it can be even more difficult to part with things we no longer use. But National Give Something Away Day is an excellent reminder that giving away items that no longer bring joy or serve a purpose is perfectly ok. For persons with ADHD, this is a perfect opportunity to declutter and give away things we no longer need. Not only will this help to maintain a more organized and tidy space, but it’s also a great way to give back to the r community. If unsure where to start, set a 15-minute timer and turn on some music. Grab two bags: a shopping or /Paper bag and a trash bag, and pick a room. For 15 minutes, pretend you are in an air machine that blows money around, and you have to grab it.
But instead of grabbing, pick up things: trash and things no one else wants to go in one bag, and things you no longer use but someone else can use in another. These items can be anything from clothes and home decor to kitchen items and electronics. For 15 minutes, just do that.
Giving away things can be a great way to reduce stress, clear clutter, and help others. Then, decide where you’d like to donate these items. You can donate them to your local thrift store or a charity or even give them to family and friends who may need them. Giving away things can be a great way to reduce stress, clear clutter, and help others. So for National Give Something Away Day, take a few minutes to review your belongings and find items you can donate. You’ll be glad you did!
